Dis! I call to you! Blend your magic with mine so the gates may be opened to the Underworld. Do this, and I swear I will give you a cord of black wool
Liturgist strikes the ground:
Dis! I call to you! Hold the Gates to the Underworld open so our Ancestors may hear us and we may hear them. Do this, and I swear I will give you the flesh of a lamb.
Liturgist strikes the ground:
Dis! I call to you! Keep the passage to the Underworld safe so that we may return to our world and our Ancestors may remain in theirs. Do this, and I swear I will give you golden coins.
Liturgist strikes the ground three more times. All repeat:
Dis! Open the Gates!
Dis! Open the Gates!
Dis! Open the Gates!
The Gates to the Underworld are open.
Closing
Liturgist strikes the ground:
Dis! You have opened the gates to the Underworld. As you have held true to your end of the bargain, so shall I hold true to mine. I now offer you the cord of black wool.
Liturgist strikes the ground:
Dis! You have held open the gates for this ritual and allowed our voices to be heard by our ancestors and their messages to be known to us. As you have held true to your end of the bargain, so shall I hold true to mine. I now offer you the flesh of a lamb.
Liturgist strikes the ground:
Dis! You have kept the passage safe so that we remain in our world and our Ancestors remain in theirs. As you have held true to your end of the bargain, so shall I hold true to mine. I now offer you golden coins.
Dis! Our bargain is complete and my oath upheld. May our magic separate and the gates the Underworld again be closed to us of the mortal realm.
